About Us

Our Family

I was born in Dallas Texas in 1988 and spent most of my childhood years in central Missouri. My family was consistently in church through my entire life, attending excellent King James-only Baptist churches since I was around 6 years old. My family moved to the Ohio/Indiana area when I was 15 years old, where we were constantly active in church and church activities and ministries.

Kathie (Katherine) was born in Oregon in 1988 and lived there for several years with her family. They attended several different Baptist churches over the course of several years, and eventually moved to California where they lived when Kathie and I first met.

We were married in 2008 and have been seeking to obey God’s will ever since. His guidance has taken us places we’d never dreamed, but through it all He’s taught us to trust Him completely and never doubt His provision.

Nathan, our first child, was born on November 16th, 2009. We thank God for him and look forward to raising an arrow to be used in the hand of THE Mighty Man. With His help, we will raise him up to serve God, whether at home or on the foreign mission field.

Our second son, James, was born on June 15th, 2012. We are very excited about the opportunity to prepare these little souls for the Master’s use!

Our Church

We are sent out of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, Texas, a King James Bible Believing, Independent Baptist Church. Our pastor’s name is David Grice, and our church is very active in spreading the gospel both locally through multiple ministries, and internationally through Faith Promise Missions.

Lighthouse Baptist Church supports over 35 missionaries all around the globe, and we are constantly active in partnering with other missionaries for the furtherance of the Gospel.

The Country

Chile is diverse in every sense, from geography to economy to industry, population and religion. From the Atacama Desert in the north, to the beautiful coastal regions around Valparaiso, to the marshy areas in the Los Lagos region to the Straights of Magellan and Tiera Del Fuego in the south, Chile is comprised of every imaginable climate and geography in the world. The same with the population: made up of mainly descendants of Spanish Settlers, with German and other European immigrants and a smattering of native tribes throughout, Chile is very much the melting pot of South America. Chile also boasts a massive seafood trade, shipping thousands of tons of fish and other ocean products to Asia and other nations. The country also has extensive industry throughout the entire nation in addition to much agricultural exportation.

The most devastating part of Chile, however, is its religious situation. As with the rest of South America, the country is comprised mostly of Roman Catholics, stemming from the colonization of the continent by Spain and Portugal in the 16th century. Also present in force are Jehovah’s Witnesses, LDS (Mormons), and many different groups of Charismatics and bizarre blends of “Full Gospel” and other Protestant groups. Though some of these may truly produce converts, they are weak and completely groundless in the Faith of Jesus Christ. In effect the vast majority of the Chilean population is either completely lost, or saved but totally without any semblance of discipleship.

The Ministry

As long as the Lord allows, we will be working with veteran missionary Philip Robinson and his family in the city of Valdivia, twelve hours south of the capital, Santiago. Bro. Robinson has started a church in Valdivia, which will soon be home to what might well be Chile’s first Bible Believing Bible Institute. Bro. Phil hopes to train Chilean men and women to reach their own people with the Gospel, by training them in the Bible and grounding them in the faith.

During this time, I will be studying in the Bible Institute there, as well as working in church planting and growing work, in addition to printing tracts and other gospel literature. We intend to do everything possible (in HIS power, not ours!) to flood South America with Bible Believing literature, printed right there in Chile.

Our Beliefs

We do not seek to strive with men over our doctrine, though we are unmoving in it, nor do we intend to make an issue out of differences with the churches that we visit. We put this here so that pastors and churches can get a feel for who we are and what we believe so there are no misunderstandings once we visit that church. We do not believe it necessary to agree 100% with every church that we visit or receive support from as the most important thing is to win souls to Christ.

I. The Scriptures
We believe the King James Bible (Authorized Version) to be the pure, perfect, infallible words of God, given by inspiration. He promised to preserve His words forever, and we firmly believe that these words are able to be seen, held and read by people today. The King James Bible is to be the absolute and final authority in all matters of faith and practice in the English language.

II. The Godhead
We believe God to be one being represented by three distinct persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These three operate in different ways, but they are all one and the same.

III. The Local Church
We believe the local body of Christ to be the building blocks of His Body. The local church is the only God-ordained organism on this earth, established to carry out the last standing orders given by Christ Himself (Acts 1:8), and is made up of individuals with a profession of faith that have been baptized by immersion in water.

IV. The Finished Work of Christ
Jesus Christ died on the cross, making the way for sinners to be saved by believing in Jesus Christ, according to Paul’s Gospel (1 Cor. 15), recieved by him from Jesus Christ. This is the Death, the Burial, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ: nothing more and nothing less is involved in the Salvation of the unbeliever. “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Eph. 2:8-9, Rom. 10:9-10, Titus 3:5)

V. The Sovereignty of God vs. the Free Will of Mankind
Every individual has a free will (Lk. 13:34, Jonah 3:10, Ex. 32:12-14, 1 Sam. 15:1, Jer. 18:8, Jer. 26:19, etc.) that is being separate from his depraved, fallen nature, born in the image of Adam. The Bible tells us that God has dealt to all men the measure of faith (Rom. 12:3), and that while the work of Salvation is solely that of the Holy Spirit (Col. 2:10-15), the work is “begun” in the believer (Phil. 1:6) at the moment of Salvation, and is continued solely by the power of God until the day of redemption (Eph. 4:30). Thus, while God’s sovereignty is involved, it is His desire that all men should repent and that none should perish, and this applies to all mankind, not simply to an “elect” that was somehow predetermined to be saved.

The election of God is upon the body of Christ, the Church, and not individuals. It is a collective thing, and not an individual one. Out of the 27 uses of the word “elect” and its derivatives, the first is a reference to Jesus Christ (Is. 42:1) as is 2 Peter 2:6, the next 10 references concern Israel (plus Rom. 9:11, 11:28, 2 Tim. 2:10 {cf. Rom. 9:3-4, 10:1}, and the majority of the remainder apply either to individuals (1 Pet. 1:2; 2 Jn. 1:1, 13), one reference to angels, and the rest to the Church as a group. So, no, I do not believe in the “predestination” of individuals as is generally taught by those who teach what they call “the doctrines of ‘grace.'” I reject all five tenets of “Calvinism” (Total Depravity, Unconditional Election, Limited Atonement, Irresistible Grace, Perseverance of the Saints) as unbiblical and completely contrary to sound doctrine.

That being said, I do believe that while Salvation is a free gift offered to all, the Holy Spirit will work in an individual’s life at certain times to convict them. This is why Paul warned the Corinthians that “now is the day of salvation” (2 Cor. 6:2). A man is always able to be saved, but without the drawing of the Holy Spirit, he won’t.

Finally, the argument is always made by “grace” believers (I believe in the Grace of God too, thank you) that only those that are drawn to Christ by the Spirit will be saved. To that I always point out that Christ said “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me” (Jn. 12:32). He was lifted up (Jn. 3:14), and He does draw all men unto Himself. Some just refuse to come – they “would not” (Matt. 23:37).

VI. The Eternal Security of the Believer
The Bible clearly states that once a person in the Church Age accepts Jesus Christ’s finished atoning work, he is eternally secure through Christ, having nothing to do with his own spiritual standing (Eph. 4:30). However, the spiritual state, or relationship with God, on a day to day basis, is contingent upon that individual’s obedience to the Scriptures, in such things as personal walk with Christ, good works (Eph. 2:10), and the carrying out of the ministry of reconciliation given to us by God.

VII. The End Times
We believe that Jesus Christ will appear in like manner as He left the earth, returning in Glory to catch away His Church, made up of all who have trusted on His name. This occurrence precedes the Tribulation, a seven year time period where hell will literally be unleashed on earth, and the Man of Sin himself will reign. At the end of the Tribulation, Jesus Christ will return to earth with His saints and conquer all the armies that oppose God’s chosen people, the Jews, and will cast into Hell Satan, the Beast, and the False Prophet. Jesus Christ will then set up His Millennial Kingdom on earth, reigning and ruling from Jerusalem for a thousand years. After one thousand years are completed, Satan will be loosed for a little season, and will one last time lead a rebellion against the LORD. One final time, all of the enemies of God will be completely consumed, along with the earth and the very fabric of reality itself, and all of lost humanity will stand before the Righteous Judge at the Great White Throne Judgement. Those not written in the Book of Life will be cast into a literal, eternal, burning lake of fire, along with the unholy trinity, and at the end of this judgement, Jesus Christ, the Creator, will recreate the universe again, ex nihilo, in the way that it was intended to be, and the New Jerusalem, the eternal home of Christ’s Bride, will descend to the earth, to be inhabited for the Ages by those who were washed in the precious Blood of Jesus Christ.

Even so come, LORD Jesus!
